FAQs

Ui expand
titleI've earned college credit before. How do I transfer it to Northwestern?
  • If you have earned college credit at another institution or through credit by exam, please send your final official transcript to Northwestern so that your transfer work can be evaluated and applied to your Northwestern degree requirements. Your previous institution will likely have an online ordering form you can use to submit your request.
  • If you have courses in progress at another institution, send your official transcript after your final grades are posted, unless instructed otherwise.
  • Be sure to keep your Northwestern academic advisor informed of any transfer coursework you've not yet sent transcripts for. This will help your advisor avoid registering you for a class you've already completed elsewhere.

titleWhat is a final official transcript?
  • An official electronic transcript is sent directly to Northwestern from the issuing institution via a secure delivery service (Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, etc.).
  • An official paper transcript is sent directly to Northwestern from the issuing institution or delivered by the student in the original envelope with seal unbroken.

  • A final transcript includes all final grades and no courses marked "in progress."
  • If you've finished high school, your final high school transcript needs to show your graduation date. If you haven't finished high school yet, just send us your current transcript!

titleWhat is Degree Audit?

Degree Audit is a tool to help you map out and monitor your progress towards degree completion. It houses your degree worksheet and academic plan.

  • The Worksheet tab contains some key information about you, including your student ID number, cumulative GPA, major, minor, anticipated graduation term, registration holds, and progress made towards your degree requirements.
  • The Plan tab contains an academic plan personally created for you by your academic advisor. If you would like to make changes to your plan, please connect with your academic advisor as early as possible to ensure you understand how the changes will impact your anticipated graduation date.
    • In the Plans tab, you can click on the "Audit" button at the bottom of your plan to double check that the plan is complete. The goal is to have all of your courses show as Complete or In-Progress. If any show as Not Complete, that course needs to be added to your plan in order to meet graduation requirements.
