How do we help our students build grit, resilience and volition? - October 16, 2019
The characteristic grit is sometimes compared to approaching life as a marathon instead of as a sprint. Research indicates that grit can be a better predictor for academic success than IQ, but is it possible to help nurture grit in our students? We will explore what research says about grit and the academic success of university students and discuss implications for our own students and courses. This session will be a facilitated discussion on the roles of expectations, formative feedback, and grace in course design.
