- Exceptions to academic policies will be considered by the Academic Policies Exceptions Committee (APEC), a rotating subcommittee of the Academic Policies & Curriculum Committee (APCC).
- The APCC may delegate responsibility for acting on petitions to the Registrar.
- Decisions made by the Registrar or the APEC need to be approved by the APCC at the next official meeting. The APCC may overrule any such decisions.
- Requests for exception for late adding, withdrawing, or dropping from a course(s) may be considered for up to one year after the end of the semester in which the course(s) in question occurred:
- Late adding of a course(s) requires signature concurrence from the respective course instructor(s), student’s advisor, and department chair/assistant dean over the student’s major.
- Late withdrawing or dropping from a course(s) requires signature concurrence from the student’s advisor, respective course instructor(s), and department chair/assistant dean over the student’s major. Additionally, there must be documentation indicating extenuating circumstances are involved that prevented timely withdrawing or dropping of the requested course(s). Examples of possible extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to, verified medical emergency, death in the family, faculty misguidance/delay, confirmed DOSS Disability Services situations, etc.
