Advising

Hours and Location

Health Services is located in Nazareth Hall on the first floor, room N1111, directly across the hall from Financial Aid.  Disability access is available through the loading dock at the rear portico entrance of Nazareth Hall.  The Health Services clinic is open whenever classes are in session; closed during school breaks and during the summer months.  Office hours are:  8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily with closure during the lunch hour.  Physician or Physician’s Assistant appointments are available whenever the clinic is open; Physician on Monday afternoons, 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. and Physician’s Assistants, Monday mornings and any clinic hours Tuesday-Friday.

Services Available

  • Unlimited visits by appointment to see a licensed provider with no copay or charge

  • Visits with a registered nurse to access, treat and/or refer your healthcare concerns

  • Professional referral to off-campus medical facilities when the care needed is beyond the scope of our services. (Please note that you will be responsible for any charges from an outside campus facility.)

  • Pharmaceuticals and/or prescriptions prescribed by one of our providers for various health conditions

  • Care for mental health conditions that are within the scope of Health Services

  • Travel assessments for college related international travel

  • Diagnostic testing, such as:  strep, mono, blood glucose, hemoglobin, urinalysis

  • Free over-the-counter medications

  • Allergy shots and other immunizations

  • Availability of emergency equipment, including AED, portable oxygen and EpiPens

  • Management of medical records and immunizations

  • Flu vaccinations through an annual flu shot clinic

  • Use of crutches, slings, heating pads, ice packs, and other medical supplies

  • Nebulizer treatments

  • Assess and treat mental health conditions (within scope of Health Services) 

  • Health and wellness education

  • Prescriptions and over the counter medications

  • Crutches, slings, heating/ice packs, therapy light, massage tool and other medical supplies available for students to rent/purchase 

  • Referrals to off-campus medical facilities (you will be responsible for charges from an outside facility) 

  • Unlimited visits by appointment to see a license professional with no co-pay or charge (certain immunizations, medications, tests and visits may have a small fee)

titleWho can utilize Health Services?

UNWSP Health Services is available to all traditional students whether they live on or off campus, along with Dual Enrollment students who live on campus and are 18 years of age or older.  *During this global pandemic, Health Services is offering COVID testing only for all students; Dual Enrollment students who live on and off campus as well as Adult Undergraduate and Graduate students.

I am a Dual Enrollment student who lives on campus, can I request an appointment with Health Services?

  • Yes, if you are 18 years of age or older you can request an appointment with Health Services. 

I am a Dual Enrollment student who lives on campus but I am under the age of 18, can I utilize Health Services?

  • Only Dual Enrollment students who live on campus and are 18 years of age or older may utilize Health Services. If you wish to be seen and are living in a residences hall as an underage Dual Enrollment student, you can have your parents submit a Minor Consent form to healthservices@unwsp.edu or fax: 651-286-7438. Minor Consent form can be found here

I am a Dual Enrollment student who attends classes on campus but I do not live on campus, can I utilize Health Services? 

  • No, only Dual Enrollment students who live on campus and are 18 years of age or older may utilize Health Services. All other Dual Enrollment students must continue care with their own local health care provider.

titleIs Health Services confidential?

We understand that health information about you and your health care is personal and confidential.  We are committed to protecting health information and to following state and federal privacy laws regarding your healthcare records. In addition to your health history and immunization forms, we create a record of your care and services and keep this record for seven years from the date of enrollment.  We use this record to provide you with quality care and to comply with specific legal regulations.

Information you share with our providers will not be shared to anyone outside of health services unless:

  • You give written permission to release information (verbal permission with documentation of that permission in some cases.)

  • Your behavior poses a threat to your safety or the safety of others (parents or other appropriate parties may be notified.)

  • You require hospitalization (parents or other appropriate parties may be notified.)

titleWhen is Health Services open?

Health Services aims to serve the UNW community in keeping the campus healthy and safe during this global pandemic in the fight to stop the spread of COVID-19 on campus. Health Services has now relocated off campus. Transportation can be arrange for students living on-campus and do not have transportation to our new location. Health Services is open Monday- Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. To keep our staff and community safe, we are no longer accepting walk-ins. Please call for a same day appointment at 651-631-5246.

fee charged each semester.  In addition, students will be charged minimal fees for certain immunizations

and antibiotics

COVID testing and immunizations may be covered by your health insurance. Please check with your insurance provider whether this fee is covered or not. If you need a receipt to submit to your health insurance provider, please ask our medical staff at your appointment.

titleHow do I make an appointment?

All appointments must be scheduled in advance; we do not accept walk in appointments. Please register on the Medicat Student Portal prior to making an appointment.

Please keep in mind that Health Services is closed weekends and academic breaks, thus, Health Services will return phone calls when we return.
