  • Northwestern abides by the eligibility requirements outlined by the NCAA.  For all sports, an entering freshman must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 semester credits).
  • To continue eligibility, the student must be making normal progress toward a baccalaureate degree.  A minimum of 12 credits must be taken during the term of participation. Minimum cum GPA requirements are listed below:

0 – 15 credits: 1.60

16 – 29 credits: 1.70

30 – 44 credits: 1.80

45 – 59 credits: 1.90

60 or more credits: 2.00

  • After completion of the second term of attendance and from then on, a student must have earned a total of two-thirds of the credits of the two previous terms of attendance.
  • Athletic eligibility requirements may be changed by appropriate external agencies. Such changes take precedence over University policies.  Complete information about eligibility requirements is available from the Athletic Director’s office.
