ChapelChapel is an opportunity for all of Northwestern to daily gather to share in an experience of worship that engages with creative and diverse content that will encourage, challenge, and invite us to a life of faith, hope, love, and service. Every chapel is planned with the following values in mind:
1. Christ Centered. We seek to glorify and experience God through content that is rooted in Christ.
2. Transformation-Focused. We seek development that encourages a genuine, transformative journey.
3. Community-Oriented. We seek to understand, love, and journey together as part of the body of Christ.

Worship Arts at UNW exists to give voice to all forms of worship expressions to reflect the diverse and vibrant culture of our student body. There are many ways you can be involved!
Worship Arts Collective auditions occur annually at the beginning of each fall semester. Students must complete the Worship Arts Music Audition Form and complete an in-person live audition. Band and vocal auditions are held at separate times.
Band auditionees will be given 1 worship song to prepare and will audition with a full live band, click, and tracks. Please bring your own in-ears or headphones for the audition. Vocalists will sing one of two provided worship songs and can choose to either accompany themselves on acoustic guitar or piano, or be accompanied by a worship arts collective member. Vocalists will also be asked to sing harmony and complete a vocal range check.
Vocal and band auditions will be held the week of September 5, 2022. If you are interested in auditioning to be a part of musical worship in the Worship Arts Collective for the 2022-2023 school year, please check back here for more details and to complete the Worship Arts Music Audition Form available beginning in August 2022.
If you are interested in being a part of the Worship Arts Collective in an area outside of worship music (dancing, poetry, spoken word, visual art, original music, ASL etc.), we would love to connect with you!
Complete the Worship Through the Arts Interest Form or email worshiparts@unwsp.edu to share your area of worship with us.

title | What is Spiritual Development Credit? |
---|
|
- Spiritual Development Credit (or SDC) is what you earn when you attend chapel or other events that offer SDC.
We offer a wide variety of opportunities for students to grow in their faith, deepen wisdom, develop character, and serve others. SDC allows us to build upon Chapel values by integrating Student Life service and learning outcomes.

title | Why does UNW do Spiritual Development Credit? |
---|
|
It's all about cultivating a lifelong faith formation journey at UNW and beyond. Students engage with their spiritual formation in different ways. By engaging with Chapel and other SDC events, students will build rhythms and skills for investing in their spiritual formation after college. These opportunities are meant to guide students to steward and take responsibility of their faith journeys. SDC is a great way to integrate faith, learning and living.

title | How to earn credit – What does it look like? |
---|
|
Through rich and diverse avenues of spiritual engagement, students may earn 1/2 SDC from participating in approved outside of Chapel opportunities. Students will earn the remaining 1/2 SDC by attending Chapel.** Daily Chapel is integrated into the class schedule – MWF @ 10:30am and TR @ 9:55am. (Please see Chapel section above or SDC Reference Guide below for more details) SDC opportunities can be earned through approved hall Bible studies, prayer gatherings, club events, academic department events, and UNW community events etc. All Full-time students (12 or more credits) in the traditional program are required to receive/attend 20 spiritual development opportunities per Quad, which is an average of 3 times per week.
**Students still have the option to receive ALL their credits through chapel if they choose to do so as well. |
