How do I apply for a financial aid award package?
Start by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be completed at www.fafsa.gov. The University of Northwestern's institutional code for FAFSA is 002371. Please explore the FAFSA site to determine your eligibility.
What do I do after I have received a financial aid award package from the Financial Aid Office?
If you have received a financial aid award package from us, your next steps are to accept/decline your loan offers.
To accept a loan offered on your Award Letter follow these instructions:
- Log on to theRock and select "Finances" tab
- Select "Financial Aid Awards" link, then select the Aid Year, and Submit
- Select "Accept Award Offer" tab to accept, change amount, or decline any of the loans offered
- Complete additional loan requirements defined below if they apply to you.
If you are accepting the Federal DL Loan (Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized) at Northwestern, you must go to https://studentloans.gov ‐ Login with FSA ID, select and complete both "Complete Loan Counseling (Entrance)" and "Complete Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note)".
