Campus Alert Level Change to Green

Earlier today, Dr. Cureton shared the good news that we have adjusted our campus alert level to green, given the number of low cases on campus and in accordance with our Resurgence Plan. Thank you for your faithfulness in upholding the mitigation protocols that help reduce the spread of COVID-19. We want to celebrate this milestone, while remembering our need to continue honoring Minnesota Department of Health guidelines and our campus protocols. 

At the end of Dr. Cureton's message, he encouraged the Northwestern community to uphold our mitigation efforts, both on and off campus. I want to add my encouragement for you to continue practicing the measures we know are making an impact: wearing face coverings, keeping physically distanced, washing hands regularly, and staying home if you are unwell. Similarly, Anna Mukaria, our Director of COVID Operations, sent a message to students today encouraging them to not be "lax" as they head into spring break.

Introducing Career Communities

Did you know that more than 70% of jobs are found through networking? Because networking with peers and industry professionals is so important for career success, Career Development built Career Communities - a private database of more than 300 alumni and industry professionals who have volunteered to help students with 12 different activities such as career advice, informational interviews, resume review, and more. Equitable access to this resource is available to our students and alumni through the Career Development portal on theRock. We have 12 communities, including Business & Entrepreneurship, Health Care & Science, and Creative & Performing Arts. For best results, select one activity and one community group; then click the “View Members” button to return a listing of matching community members with a photo, name, title, employer, LinkedIn, and email, and an indicator for UNW alumni (about 85% are alumni). This tool is an ideal starting point for students doing informational interviews, exploring desirable companies, and building a professional network.

Summer Writing Community - Application Deadline Extended

All full-time faculty, .75 lecturers, and all faculty teaching in the graduate program are encouraged to apply for the 2021 Summer Writing Community. This community seeks to promote and encourage faculty in their professional and scholarly writing. It involves a series of four day-long retreats that will be held virtually throughout summer 2021.

The application deadline for the virtual Summer Writing Community has been extended to Friday, March 5. Please visit the community page for more details about the event. You can also download the application directly if you are interested. If you have questions, please contact your college/academic dean.
