Disable Randomized Physical/Mac Address

Overview

You will need to disable the feature on your device that randomizes the mac/physical address as this interferes with our network. Please note that you may need to disable this for each network (UNW Wireless and Eagles).



Mobile Device


Android (10 and above)

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select Network and Internet.
  3. Select WiFi.
  4. Connect to the UNW Wireless network.
  5. Tap the gear icon next to the current wifi connection.
  6. Select Advanced.
  7. Select Privacy.
  8. Select "Use device MAC"

iOS (14 and above)

  1. Make sure the device is currently connected to UNW Wireless or Eagles 
  2. Open the Settings app, then tap on Wi-Fi. 
  3. Tap on the information button  next to the network.
  4. Tap on the Use Private Address toggle to turn it off, a privacy warning will pop up. 
  5. To immediately switch to the original hardware MAC address, turn off Wi-Fi on the device and turn it back on. 



Desktop/Laptop


Windows 10

  1. Click on the WiFi and click Network & Internet Settings.
  2. Click on the WiFi tab, select Advanced Options.
  3. Switch Off  Random Hardware Address.
  4. Restart your computer.

This will disable Random Hardware Address for all networks. You can disable this feature for individual WiFi networks by doing the following.

  1. Click on the WiFi and click Network & Internet Settings.
  2. Click on the WiFi tab, select Advanced Options.
  3. Click on UNW Wireless or Eagles
  4. Click the drop down and switch to off under Random Hardware Address.

Mac OS

There is no setting for this for 10.15 and earlier.
