uniFLOW - Checking your Print Balance
Every semester, students are given $30 for printing within the UniFLOW environment. The semesters are broken down as follows:
Schedule
Fall:
September
October
November
December
Spring:
January
February
March
April
May
Costs:
8.5x11 Black/White: 1.5 cents
8.5x11 Color: 5.7 cents
Other: depends on page type
With these figures it’s possible a student could print as many as 2000 black/white pages per semester without noticing any charges on their account, assuming a $30 balance.
Balance checking:
Although existing methods today are somewhat crude, it is possible to get a sense of your monthly balance by adding a widget to your portal.
Login to uniFLOW Online
Choose the button at the top to “add widget”
Add “My Activity - Line Chart”
Upon doing so you should see a line chart that will give you B/W and Color print totals for the last few months. Unfortunately, these totals don’t go into detail for paper types, so if you are using paper bigger than 8.5x11, costs will be higher. However, you can hover over each dot (there are 2 dots each month, 1 for color, 1 for black and white) and note the totals for that month. Since this view shows the last 6 months, you can do this for all the months in the semester and multiple them by the value amounts (listed in this article) to determine a rough estimate of cost. In the example below for fall semester:
September: 0
October:
Color: 4
B/W: 1
November:
B/W: 3
December:
B/W: 2
Totals for all 4 months:
B/W: 6 x 1.5 cents = 9 cents
Color: 4 x 5.7 cents = 23 cents
In the example here, the 30 cents used for the semester is well below the $30 provided as a standard student budget.
IT will be evaluating easier methods to provide this reporting to students.
