Residence Halls
AKENSON HALL
Located across Lydia Avenue just south of Ramseyer Hall, Akenson Hall is our newest residence hall at Northwestern. Each room has a private bath, but no kitchenette (mini-fridges are provided). Community kitchens are provided on each floor.
Akenson Desk
The Akenson desk is located inside the main entrance and is staffed during the academic year during RA duty hours.
Swimming Pool & Hot Tub
Akenson Hall has a swimming pool, hot tub and small fitness area. The swimming pool and sauna areas are for the use of UNW students and their individual guests. The swimming pool, hot tub and fitness area hours are 6am – midnight. To prevent accidents in the pool and hot tub area, no food, drink or glass containers are permitted. Running, pushing or rough play are also not permitted around the pool or hot tub.
HARTILL, KNUTSON, & KNUHA
Connected to the Robertson Student Center, these residence halls are the largest housing facilities. Each room (three or four students each) has a kitchenette and private bath.
MOYER
Located just north of Hartill, the Moyer Residence contains 11 quads that house eight students each. Each quad has four bedrooms (two students per bedroom), kitchen, living room, and four bathrooms.
RAMSEYER
Located on Lydia Avenue across from the main entrance of the campus, the Ramseyer Residence has 11 one-bedroom apartments (four students each) and 11 two-bedroom apartments (five students each). Each apartment has a kitchen, living room, and bathroom.
The Robertson Student Center is located between Hartill and Knutson Residences and is open 24 hours a day for all students to enjoy. Although guests are welcome, the student center is primarily for student use.
FIRST FLOOR
Eagle’s Nest
The Eagle’s Nest is a social center for recreation, meals, snacks, television viewing, and conversation. Shoes must be worn in the Eagle’s Nest.
FitNest
The “FitNest” is a 24-hour fitness facility located on the first floor of the Robertson Student Center (by the Eagle’s Nest). It is outfitted with equipment including bikes, elliptical/cross trainers, treadmills, arm rowers, and a universal machine as well as a stretching area and an exercise ball area for core body workouts and flexibility. A security camera is in place for safety and security, and men’s and women’s locker rooms are available.
SECOND (MAIN) FLOOR
Robertson Student Center Desk
The Robertson Student Center desk is located inside the main entrance and is staffed during the hours of 7:00am-2:00am during the academic year. The receptionist receives incoming phone calls and welcomes entering guests. The desk also monitors visitor and guest check-in.
Student Center Main Lounge
The student center main lounge is a gathering area for students to relax, socialize, and study. The lounge also serves as an area for off-campus guests and family members to visit with resident students.
Guidelines for the student center lounge include the following:
- Furniture may not be removed from the student center. When moved to another place in the main lounge, it should be returned to its original placement after use.
- The furniture in the student center is provided to help create a comfortable atmosphere for students. Good judgment is to be used in relation to its use. Therefore, the placing of feet, standing, etc., on furniture is inappropriate.
- For health and safety purposes, bare feet are not permitted in the student center.
- Excessive horseplay, such as wrestling and ball throwing, is prohibited.
Prayer Rooms
Located next to the maintenance office, the prayer room is available for individual or small group prayer.
THIRD FLOOR
Recreation Area
Billiards and table games are available while RAs are on duty. Supplies can be checked out from the front desk.
Meeting Rooms
Meeting rooms (SC390, SC391, SC392) are available for scheduled meetings. Only official student organizations and clubs may make reservations. (See Reserving a Room, section 14.2.7)
Prayer Chapel
A specific quiet location has been set aside for students to have a place for individual or group Bible study, prayer, or devotions.
Lounge areas are provided for enjoyment and fellowship and are to be kept neat and orderly. Lounge furniture must not be removed from the lounge for any reason.
HALL LOUNGES Quiet hours must be observed in hall lounges, as they are near the living quarters.
WING LOUNGES Co-ed study and activity are permitted seven days per week in the wing lounges adjacent to the Robertson Student Center. Quiet hours must be observed in wing lounges, as they are near the living quarters.
