Changing the student view of courses in your Moodle Home Page or Navigation Drawer

Sometimes students see completed courses still showing in their Home page and request that they be removed. Other students sometimes request that they be allowed to access hidden courses so that they can build a portfolio.

  • Student access to a course applies to all students in that course. When a course is opened, all students in the course have access to it. This access cannot be adjusted individually.
  • Access to a Trad course is generally controlled by the professor. Access to CGOAL courses is generally controlled by the Online Learning Office. To strike a balance between students who want access and those who don't, UNW generally closes courses at the end of the subsequent semester. For example, students who took spring courses will find that those courses disappear around the following September 1.
  • Non-transcript courses related to departments, clubs, special exams, shared resources, etc., have no end date and are not closed as long as they are in use. To be removed from this type of course would mean that you must be unenrolled by the course administrator and you would not have access. In some cases, such as a Title IX course, UNW provides information that is important for you to have access to during your time as a student.

Can I request access to retrieve portfolio resources I previously submitted in a course?

Students should plan to keep copies of their papers and significant work on their computers. When program portfolios are required, it is best to build them along the way or shortly after course completion. In the case of loss of submitted work, students can create an IT ticket and make a request to work in real time with a Moodle administrator to temporarily access these materials.
