Overview

VoiceThread is an interactive alternative to text-based online discussions. The cloud-based application gives you the ability to discuss, dialogue, debate, and disseminate information using your voice, video, graphics, and text. This article explains how to create a new VoiceThread, make comments, and share your VoiceThread link.

Logging into VoiceThread

  • VoiceThread is fully supported in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers. Safari or Microsoft Edge can be used to view, but not record a VoiceThread. Internet Explorer does not support HTML5, and therefore cannot be used with VoiceThread.
  • As a student (or professor) at Northwestern, you already have an account created at unwsp.voicethread.com and you can use your normal log-in credentials for theROCK.
    • Please do not create an account through the public-facing www.voicethread.com because doing so will cause problems when you try to share your presentation or view other presentations.
  • If you are required to use VoiceThread in your course, you may be able to access your account directly through the link provided on your course site, if it has been configured that way.

If you experience any formatting issues (strange fonts or layout) after uploading a PowerPoint or other presentation file, try converting the original presentation to a PDF and then upload it again.
