By default, .JMP files may not have an application associated with them upon opening them. The directions below explain on to fix this on your machine.

  1. The first time you open a JMP file, you will likely see a page like this (see blow). Select the ‘more apps’ option.

  1. Upon choosing ‘more apps’ a list of apps should open. Scroll to the bottom and choose “look for another app on this PC”

  2. You will then be prompted to find the program (in this case, JMP) which you should use for opening the application. Double click on the SAS directory:

  3. Open the JMPPRO directory

  4. Open the ‘17’ directory

  5. Highlight the JMP application and click ‘open’.

  6. All of the JMP files will now be associated to open using the JMP 17 application. If you get prompted to register JMP, choose ‘wait to register’:

  7. The file you were originally trying to open should now open. Future JMP files you attempt to open will also be opened with the JMP 17 application.
