Fall Faculty Workshop 2022 PROGRAM


Tuesday Optional Workshop Links:

2:45 pm—4:00 pm Program Assessment Brief 10-minute Check-ins


2:45 pm—3:30 pm Help your Students SOAR! (Career and Leadership Development) Discover how our resources, connections, classroom presentations, and events can help your students embark on an engaging, God-honoring career. Topics will include new resources, upcoming events, department changes, and success stories. We want to support you in preparing all our students for grad school, career success, and to lead well in their communities.


3:30 pm—4:00 pm What’s New in Academic Technology This Fall —Video, Plagiarism Checking, and Inclusive Access (Mark Henderson) We will look at what is new at UNW regarding video solutions, the switch back to Turnitin plagiarism detection in Moodle, and a new Inclusive Access platform called Vital Source.

Wednesday Optional Workshops:

2:15 pm—3:00 pm Student Life (Jeff Snyder, Christa St. John, Deeta Wanless, Jerod Cornelius) 
The Student Care team will provide an overview of who they are and how they function within the university. They will briefly explore some of the most common student issues as well as walk through a scenario involving a student who may be experiencing some mental health concerns. 


3:00 pm—3:30 pm Academic Achievement (Jon Flaa, Ruth Fries) 
Come learn how our Academic Achievement team can support you AND your students in reaching their academic goals. There will be opportunity to ask your specific questions concerning non-ADA, Disability Services, tutoring, testing, etc. 


3:30 pm—4:00 pm Improve Your Students’ Moodle Experience (Online Learning Office)
Discover small things that can make a big impact to your students’ experience. We will cover course layout, using icons, common teaching resources, activity completion, calendars, and
other improvements. Come and get one or two ideas that you can implement this fall to improve your students’ Moodle experience.

1:00 pm—2:00 pm Optional Technology 1-on-1 Zoom Help Virtual


Join anytime August 18, 10:00-11:00 or 1:00-2:00 to meet with a technology specialist to discuss Moodle, course design, Lecture Capture, or any other academic-related technology. Designers from the Online Learning Office and Mark Henderson from Academic Technology will be on hand to talk with you about solutions for your teaching delivery.
