8.2.1 MTLE: Pedagogy Exam

All candidates applying for a first-time Minnesota teaching licensure (Tier 3) must take the MTLE: Pedagogy Exam appropriate for their chosen licensure level.  It is recommended that students successfully pass the Pedagogy exam before or during student teaching. Candidates completing preparation in more than one licensure field are only required to take one Pedagogy exam.  Candidates should check with their academic advisor to determine the appropriate level (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary).  Candidates completing one licensure field should select an exam level as follows:
