Dear Students, 

Congratulations on becoming a student in your acceptance into the University of Northwestern – St. Paul’s (UNWSP) School of Nursing! We are excited for you to participate in delighted to have you join our Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) program. It is our mission to equip you to grow both intellectually and spiritually so that you can effectively serve This is the beginning of a transformative journey and we are excited to see how you will grow intellectually, psychologically, and spiritually as you prepare to make a profound impact in the nursing profession. This handbook has been created for your benefit. We hope that this handbook will be useful to you during your time here. You will be held accountable for knowing and abiding by the policies and procedures set forth within this handbook and course syllabi.
The University of Northwestern – St. Paul is rooted in the Scriptures and grounded in the Christian faith. The aim of our BSN program is Our mission is to equip you with the knowledge and skills you’ll need and the spiritual foundation to serve with compassion and excellence. 

The BSN program is designed to provide a Christ-centered, biblically-based , and service focused nursing education. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to assisting you academically and spiritually during this rigorous program.

We are committed to educating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—so that you are fully prepared to provide holistic care to those you serve. This handbook has been carefully crafted to support you throughout your time here. We encourage you to take full advantage of it, as it contains essential policies and procedures that will guide your path to success. Understanding and adhering to these guidelines will empower you to thrive in this program. 

At UNW, our roots are deeply grounded in Scripture and the Christian faith. As you embark on this path, I want to share a verse that has become a source of strength and encouragement for many in our program: Romans 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” This has become a well-known verse of the students in this nursing program. During this program you will experience exciting and joyful times, but there will also be stressful times. It is our hope that you take this verse to heart. Be joyful; be patient; be faithful in prayer.
