1.2 Letter from the Dean of School of Nursing

1.2 Letter from the Chief Nurse Administrator of the School of Nursing

Dear Students,

Congratulations on your acceptance into the University of Northwestern – St. Paul’s (UNWSP) School of Nursing! We are delighted to have you join our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This is the beginning of a transformative journey and we are excited to see how you will grow intellectually, psychologically, and spiritually as you prepare to make a profound impact in the nursing profession. Our mission is to equip you with the knowledge and skills you’ll need and the spiritual foundation to serve with compassion and excellence.

The BSN program is designed to provide a Christ-centered, biblically-based education emphasizing service to others. We are committed to educating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—so that you are fully prepared to provide holistic care to those you serve. This handbook has been carefully crafted to support you throughout your time here. We encourage you to take full advantage of it, as it contains essential policies and procedures that will guide your path to success. Understanding and adhering to these guidelines will empower you to thrive in this program.

At UNW, our roots are deeply grounded in Scripture and the Christian faith. As you embark on this path, I want to share a verse that has become a source of strength and encouragement for many in our program: Romans 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” This verse speaks to the balance of joy, patience, and faith that will sustain you through the exciting and challenging moments ahead. Embrace these words as a reminder that you are never alone in this journey—be joyful, be patient, and remain steadfast in prayer.

Our faculty and staff are committed to supporting you as a whole person, and to walking alongside you as you navigate this rigorous and rewarding journey. We are confident that you have been called to this noble profession and are here to support and uplift you every step of the way.

May God's blessings be with you as you begin this incredible journey.

With gratitude,

Santhiny Rajamohan, PhD, MSN, RN
