When you are creating a new discussion, there is a subscription option checkbox located under the Message text boxin the Advanced settings of the forum located next to Post to Forum. Leaving the box checked means that you will receive an emailed copy of every reply to your post. This is helpful if you would like to be notified when someone replies to your initial post.
Individual Discussions within a Forum
You can also choose to subscribe to some discussions in a forum, but not others. In the far right column of each student's discussion, you will either see a mail icon or a dot Subscribe toggle. The mail icon toggle indicates that you are subscribed to the discussion and the dot indicates that you are or not subscribed to the discussion. Click on either to change your subscription status.
