title4.2 Licensure/Credential Appeals

The University of Northwestern is approved by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) to provide programs leading to teacher licensure. Therefore, according to MN Statute 122A.09, Subdivision 4c, the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) may assist in resolving disputes between a student preparing for teacher licensure or a licensed graduate of a teacher preparation program and the institution when the dispute involves an institution’s recommendation for licensure affecting the person or person’s credentials.

Once a student has exhausted all available appeals processes at the University, as per MN Statute 122A.09, Subdivision 4c, the student may submit a written request to the Executive Director of the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) for assistance in resolving a dispute regarding a recommendation for licensure.
