Incoming Athletes

If you are an athlete, you’ve likely been recruited by our coaching staff for over the past 6-12 months+.  It has been a joy getting to know you better during our time together thus far.  We are thrilled that you are planning on being a part of our Eagle family this coming fall!  We want to cover a few main thoughts below that you will find hopefully helpful.  Please know that future communication with be shared regarding all of these things at the right time.

First, your coach should be communicating their thoughts regarding a summer workout plan.   You will be encouraged to utilize that if you don’t have a current plan or just feel free to incorporate it into what you are already doing.  Football recruits-your actual move-in day will be on Wednesday, August 12th.   All other fall sport athletes (volleyball, cross country, soccer and golf) will be arriving to campus on Tuesday, August 18th.  More details will be coming regarding that as well.  All other athletes (Winter and Spring sports) will report to campus on Friday, August 21st during the main New Student Orientation day.  Winter and/or Spring athlete’s- please know that your coach will likely have a team meeting at the beginning of the school year (usually within the first couple of weeks of class) to go over the upcoming plan for the year.  Should you have any additional questions that might be more specific don’t hesitate to ask myself or the coach representing your sport area.

Newly-Interested Athletes

If you are new to us and have an interest to possibly compete at the collegiate level, athletically please let us know.  It’s rare, but sometimes student athletes come through and have an interest at this time that we are not aware of.  It would be an honor and privilege to learn of your interest.  See "Who To Contact" section below.

Intramurals

If you not serious about athletics and are considering doing something more for recreation, the following information is geared more for you. Please know that the Ericksen building is available for your use anytime during useable hours.  You are welcome to use the gym, weight room, racquetball courts and outdoor facilities during posted times.  Something you might want to also consider is to get involved in our intramural program.  This is a great opportunity for students to experience some quality exercise, some level of competitiveness and just all around fun with those that make up your particular team.  The coordinator for intramurals is Sarah Connally.  She can be reached by email at sjconnally@unwsp.edu or by office phone at 651-628-3357.  Throughout the year there will be announcements as to when specific sport competitions will be taking place with intramurals.  At that time you will also learn how to get signed up as an individual or as an entire team etc.
