When launching JMP 18 Student Edition for the first time on a virtual desktop you will see the following dialogue box:

The reason for this pop-up is because JMP now requires a user to be logged into the application itself in order for it to work. Thankfully, JMP provides free access for students, provided that they sign up for access on their website. The rest of these instructions assume that you’ve not setup access yet.

Creating a JMP account

  1. Visit https://my.jmp.com/jmpportal/ to create an account. Click the blue login button once the page loads.

  2. Upon clicking Login you should see a similar screen. Click the ‘sign up’ button in the lower right corner:

  3. Enter your first name, last name, and email to sign up for JMP:

  4. A verification code will be sent to your email:

  5. Enter the 6 digit verification code that you received in your email and click verify.

  6. If successful you should receive a confirmation email as well:

Signing up for Student Edition

After creating an account, you need to do a few things to sign up for your free ‘student edition’ of JMP:

  1. Visit https://store.jmp.com/student/ to set up your license access.

  2. The upper right corner should show your name. If not, click the ‘sign in’ link in the upper right corner:

  3. Since you’ve already signed in, you should now see the section where they ask more information about your courses. Fill in the questions as requested and click submit.

  4. You will be redirected to federation.proxi.id. Click Start

    2. Instead of entering the university’s name, choose the option to ‘click here to verify by email’ instead:

    3. When prompted for your University email address, enter it and click ‘submit’

    4. After submitting, you should receive an email with a code. Take note of your verification code. In the email, click the “return to verification” app link, to go back into the web page where you will enter your code.

    5. After being brought back to the web page, click the ‘have a verification code’ link at the bottom of the page

    6. Enter your university email address, verification code (from the email) and click submit

    7. After clicking submit, you should be brought back to the JMP store and have 1 item in your checkout. Click ‘checkout’

    8. You will be prompted for your address. Enter this in and click ‘next’

    9. You will need to check the ‘i agree to terms’ box an click ‘place order’

    10. Lastly, you should receive an order confirmation:

Starting the JMP app for the first time after you’ve created your JMP account and received your license

  1. You may recognize this pop-up the first time you try to launch JMP 18. Click OK

  1. Upon clicking OK, you will see the JMP login screen.

    1. Enter your email and click the blue sign-in button.

  2. A verification code will be sent to your email:

    1. Take note of this verification code

  3. Enter the 6 digit verification code that you received in your email and click verify.

  4. The JMP app should now load

Note: If you try opening the software too soon after getting it from the JMP Store, you may be informed that ‘no authorizations' are found. It can take 10+ minutes for permissions to be set in JMP after purchasing the product. You’ll need to try again later if you see the prompt below.
