View Discussion Ratings in a Standard Discussion Forum

Standard discussion forums use the icon seen below.

Some instructors use ratings to grade discussion forums.  The rating criteria is typically defined in the syllabus or in the discussion forum directions.  There are different ways that the instructor may setup the rating system.  In this example, "sum of ratings" is used, which means that a point value is given to posts and replies for each student. 

For example, in Wendy's initial post shown below, she received 5 points.  The parenthetical number, (1), indicates that this post will receive one rating.

She also received 5 points for her reply to Freddy.

Therefore, the gradebook shows that she received a total of 10 points for this discussion forum.

No matter how your instructor chooses to use ratings, the value of the rating is always visible in the same location as the example above.
