Faculty Responsibilities
- To help provide for less congested final examination experiences for the students, a final may not be scheduled to occur before the designated final examination period. Faculty may not schedule a final exam to take place on or before the last day of class for the semester.
- Take-home and on-line exams (and other such projects given in place of a final exam) may not have due dates/times earlier than the designated final examination period.
- Performance exams may be handled at the discretion of the instructor.
- The date, time, and type of final examination to be required must be specified in the syllabi.
- University-sponsored events requiring students to miss any part of the final examination schedule must be approved by the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and the full faculty informed in advance.
- Exceptions to policies governing final examinations require the approval of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and the appropriate college dean and department chair/assistant dean, and must be included in the course syllabus at the beginning of the semester.
