    2. It is hard to interpret sarcasm, jokes, or passion in written text.
  3. Be Scholarly
    1. Use proper grammar and spelling.
    2. Cite your sources.

    1. Include proper greeting and salutation.
    2. Include a clear subject line.
    3. Identify your course when writing your professor.
    4. Proofread your writing for grammar, spelling, etc. before hitting send.
  2. Be Patient
    1. Allow time to respond.
    2. 24 hours is a good rule of thumb.
  3. Be Courteous
    1. After you receive a reply, provide a reply yourself to say thank you, ask a follow-up question, or provide feedback.
    2. Address conflict in person when possible.

Virtual Meetings

  1. Be Professional
    1. Dress as if you were attending a face-to-face class.
    2. Arrive on time.
    3. Remember what you share on your screen can be seen by others.
    4. Ask permission to share others’ work with anyone outside of the class.
  2. Be Mindful of your Surroundings
    1. Choose a quiet location with minimal background noise.
    2. Mute your mic unless you are speaking.
    3. Choose a private location without people or distractions in the background.
    4. Consider a virtual background.
  3. Be Present
    1. Make sure that your microphone and camera are working properly.
    2. Turn on your camera.
    3. Actively participate and engage just as you would in a face-to-face setting.
