Downloading the Software - How to Add the S: Drive

All of the software installation executables are available on the Engineering_Shared S: Drive.

Below are the steps to access this space:

1. Open File Explorer
2. Go to This PC, then in the top left of the screen where it says “This PC” type \\fs-05\engineering_shared
3. It will give you an error message, ignore it
4. There should be a box hiding behind your File Explorer (it may take a bit to load) that asks for your access credentials
5. Enter your full email and password
6. Close the error box and type in the address again - it should open
7. Click back to the fs-05 folder.
      a. In the top bar where you typed the address, it should say Network > fs-05 > engineering_shared. Click on the fs-05 part to load that folder.
      b. Then right click on the engineering_shared folder and choose “map network drive”
      c. It will auto select a Drive letter, leave it and click Finish
      d. Close the folder when it opens so that you can see the fs-05 folder again
8. Back in the fs-05 folder you should also see engineering_home.
      a. Open it, then navigate to your specific folder (username).
      b. Right click and select create shortcut. It will give you an error box saying it has placed the shortcut on your desktop instead of in the folder. Click OK.
      c. You should now be able to open your individual folder from your desktop directly. Anything you save there will be available on any campus computer.
9. If you would also like to map the student_shared folder, repeat step 7 for that folder.

Off Campus Software Use - Setting up the VPN

All of our software licenses are tied to the Engineering license server. When on the campus network computers will automatically be able to check out licenses from this server. To do so off campus students will need to download the Engineering VPN. The VPN needs to be connected anytime the software is in use.

Below are the steps to download the VPN:

  1. From off campus, open this page: https://pa-vpn.unwsp.edu
  2. Log in using your UNW account (same as theROCK) and download the appropriate client.
  3. Click through the client install
  4. Run the Global Protect client
  5. Enter “pa-vpn.unwsp.edu” in the "Portal" field as you can see below:

6. Enter your username/password (same as you use for theROCK) and click Connect.
7. You should now be able to access the Engineering servers.
