Diverse Non-Classroom Filed Experience

All requests for an alternative plan for meeting the Diverse Non-Classroom Field Experience requirements must be approved by the course instructor or the Exceptions Committee. Up to 15 hours of overseas experience may be accepted.  However, the remaining 15 hours must be completed in the continental United States. Typically, overseas trips do not meet the cross-cultural criteria.  However, if the following requirements are met, the course instructor or Exceptions Committee may grant approval:

The candidate must successfully complete EDU3209 Human Relations in a Cross-Culturally Diverse World and EDU3209L Part I – Diverse Classroom Field Experience (30 hours) prior to completing the experience.

The experience must include involvement with populations found in Minnesota schools.

The candidate must provide the name and contact information of an individual who provided supervision of the experience so that the experience may be verified.

The experience must be recent (within the last 2 years).
