9.3 Professional Conduct/Upholding Professional Standards
The discipline of nursing has developed guidelines for professional behavior to give the public an indication of the behavior that can be expected from a professional. It is expected that students will adhere to the following codes of conduct:
Know the scope of practice for the student nurse and function within that scope.
Recognize and respect client diversity/cultural backgrounds, providing dignity to all clients.
Safeguard all client information as confidential, regardless of where it is acquired.
Refuse to endorse the sale and/or promotion of commercial products or services.
Uphold the School of Nursing’s high standards regarding
Personal Appearance (well-groomed, clean, neat, modest dress);
Language (avoids ungodly, inappropriate, provocative, crude, coarse, or vulgar language; and
Demeanor (Christ-like character prepared for ministry and service).
