Tableau Public - Installing on your Personal Computer

The following directions explain the process to get Tableau Public installed on your personal computer.

Note: The Tableau for Students program has shifted over to providing free software through Tableau Desktop Public Edition. While the products are similar in visualization capabilities, the process to get a free license is now much easier. Now, learners beyond the traditional classroom such as part-time learners and apprentices can access the software.

Downloading the software

1. Visit Tableau for Students

2. Click the button to “Get Tableau for Free”

3. Fill in the registration information, including your UNW email address, and click the button to download the app:

4. You should see a prompt such as this. Click the link for the proper version of Tableau if your download doesn’t begin automatically.

5. Once the download is complete, double click on the file to begin the installation process. Click through the installation process.

6. Once the installer has completed, Tableau should open to a window such as this:
