Overview

Nursing Dedication Ceremonies

Purpose

The Nursing Dedication Ceremonies are profound and inspiring traditions that celebrate the calling of nursing as a ministry of compassion, healing, and service. Rooted in faith and guided by Christ’s love, these ceremonies honor the achievements of nursing students, marking significant milestones in their academic and spiritual journeys. They serve as powerful moments for reflection on the divine purpose of the nursing profession, uniting students, faculty, and the nursing community in prayer and fellowship.

These ceremonies recognize students’ dedication, perseverance, and growth, reminding us of our shared commitment to care for others with grace, humility, and unwavering devotion. By dedicating their skills and hearts to God’s work, students reaffirm their role as servant leaders, demonstrating the transformative power of faith, accomplishment, and service in responding to Christ’s call to serve.

 Participation

Students are required to participate in Nursing Dedication Ceremonies at the end of Term One and Term Four. These ceremonies symbolize a student’s commitment to fulfilling Christ’s call to care for others and embody the spirit of servant leadership. They are an essential expression of students’ commitment to honoring Christ and one another in their academic and professional journey.

 Community Involvement

Students in other cohorts are encouraged to support by assisting with preparations or attending to celebrate their peers. Their participation demonstrates the unity and fellowship of the SON community under Christ’s guidance.

Support

Students with questions or concerns about participation are encouraged to contact their academic advisor for guidance and support.

As part of UNW School of Nursing history, the graduating cohort is provided an opportunity to give a legacy gift to empower the next generation of nursing leaders.
