CONCLUSION

The program portfolio is an assessment tool that demonstrates a candidate’s ability to reflect on professional growth and development. It provides evidence of a candidate’s personal development toward becoming an effective teacher and therefore highlights the unique journey of the individual in that process. Candidates are encouraged to discuss and share their portfolios with faculty advisors, course instructors, university supervisors and academic peers as they reflect on their own professional growth. Questions about portfolio development may be directed to the Program Coordinator for the specific licensure program or the Dean of School of Education. Creating a portfolio is a challenging and rewarding professional experience that enables teacher candidates to clearly articulate what they know, value and can do effectively at this point in their careers.
