2.11 Substitute Teaching and Compensation for Teaching
- Regardless of PELSB policy, UNWSP policy does not allow teacher candidates to accept compensation for teaching nor for serving as a substitute teacher. This policy is intended to protect the cooperating district and the classroom students as well as the teacher candidate. If the cooperating teacher cannot be present, the school district must obtain a qualified substitute. The candidate may teach the classroom's regular schedule IF under the direct supervision of a qualified substitute.
- Student teaching may be done under the guidance of a qualified substitute teacher on a short-term basis. The candidate must also be under the guidance of a qualified cooperating teacher or an administrator of the cooperating school until the candidate's own cooperating teacher returns.
